Hye Jung Kang
Lyric Coloratura soprano Hye Jung Kang gives “ the Pamina HJ Kang had a sweet, colorful, flowing soprano” – New York times by Anne Midgette in 2005. Her first operatic soprano role as Pamina in “Magic Flute” in Hunter College Theater in NY. She Sang many roles in Korea National Opera and Seoul Metropolitan Opera in Korea as Gilda in “Rigoletto”, Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro”, Zerlina in “Don Giovanni”, Norina in “Don Pasquale”, Lucia in “Lucia di Lammermoor”, Adina in “L’Elisir d’Amore”, Hanna in “The Merry Widow” and many other roles. And she performed with many famous orchestras with Mozart’s Requiem, Mahler’s symphony No.2, No.4, Haydn’s “Paukenmesse”, Brahms’s “German Requiem” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Choral Fantasy. She performed with Jose Carreras in his concert in Korea 2010. Also she was awarded the “Best new artist” in “The 2010 Korea opera award”.
She began her career in 2006 at her age of 27. She received her Master degree and Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College of Music in New York City, studying with Ruth Falcon and Amy Burton. In the 2005 she received “The Michael Sisca Opera Award”. And she participated in the master courses with Renata Scotto, Resina Resnik, Marilyn Horne and Nico Castel. And she is currently voice faculty of Keimyung University in Daegu, Korea.
