Changwoo Kang

Changwoo Kang majored in violin at Seoul National University and enrolled a musicology program for graduates at the same University. Then, he graduated from Liszt Academy of Music in Hungary with honor and earned a doctorate degree in orchestral conducting at Moscow Gnessin School of Music. As a player, his career began as a member of Seoul City Philharmonic Orchestra and served as the viola chief of Korean Symphony Orchestra and Eurasian Chamber Orchestra. His career extended to the conductor, he was invited as a guest conductor for such outstanding orchestras in Korea as Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Jeju Civic Orchestra, Jeonju Philharmonic Orchestra, Incheon City Symphony Orchestra, New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and a few others. In overseas countries, he conducted a number of orchestras including Russia Federal Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra and Kurz Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, he also led Guri Symphony Orchestra and made a successful tour in European countries with the Orchestra. Moreover, he led the Ola Viola Sound which is world’s only viola orchestra and toured Europe twice. He served as a fulltime conductor of Guri Symphony Orchestra and worked as a teaching professor at Hyupsung University. While serving as the director of National Police Symphony Orchestra, he conducted 100 performances or more every year. He was a professor at Sungshin Women’s University as well. Currently, he is in charge of the string ensembles at Sunhwa Arts School and Seoul National University, leading Korea Yubillate.
